When you think of a serger, you probably immediately think of clothing! Although garment sewing is widely done on a serger, we are here to tell you that sergers can accomplish so much more! We've compiled a list of 20+ things that you may not have known that you can do on a serger. Let's dive right in!
Here's your Girlfriend's list of 20+ amazing things you didn't know a serger could do:
- 4-Thread Overlock Stitch (You'll see this on the inside of most clothing items!)
- Create a rolled hem.
- Sew a blanket stitch seam.
- Gather fabric to create your own ruffles.
- Install a zipper.
- Attach binding.
- Easily sew around curves.
- Sew a crocheted edge to any project.
- Create your own piping.
- Add a beaded trim.
- Create rolled edge pintucks.
- Create and attach double fold bias binding.
- Piece quilt blocks together.
- Create a rolled hem on delicate fabrics.
- Create a "lettuce" edge.
- Create wired edge ribbon.
- On select Baby Lock sergers, you can create a wave stitch!
- Make belt loops, purse straps, and lanyards.
